Most Eventful 5 Days Ever

I’ve been quite busy these past days. Not exactly busy, but a LOT of things happened. Okay, where should I start?

Oh yeah, first of all, I was called for the interview for TESL in UM and also in UiTM. Thing is, I knew I had to go to UM on 15/6, Wednesday. So we (my parents and me) decided to take the ETS train on 14/6 and then break our fast with my brother and sister. And then we were supposed to go back the next day, on 15/6 after I finished my interview, as it is being held in the morning. We took the 6pm train just to be save and my mom said they weren’t any earlier trains anyway.

14/6 (Tuesday)

So yeah, we rode the train, arrived at KL Sentral, and rode the LRT to Universiti Station where it is just a walking distance away from my sister’s apartment. So we walked to her block and then she drove us to take my brother from UM. We also took a look around on where I’m supposed to have the interview tomorrow.

After that, we went back home and I fangirled with Kakak about everything K-Pop. Then, it was time to break fast so we went to our favourite restaurant Kayu Manis and had a wonderful feast. We went back home and my dad went to the mosque with his friend. My mom then asked whether we wanted to go to my cousin’s house as she had to send some medicines. Somehow, in all our light-heartedness, we all agreed to go. There, we (more like my mom) chatted a bit and then went back home. Tomorrow is my interview, so I should’ve prepared myself right? But no I decided to fangirl more with Kakak. And I slept late.

15/6 (Wednesday)

Interview day. My sister drove us there and dropped us. So I went to the interview and my brother went wherever he wanted to because we thought the interview would be a while. Anyway, I won’t talk about how the interview went, maybe some other time I will, but not now.

So I finished the interview, so my parents called my brother and asked how we were going to get to KL Sentral. Because my sister had a class that day so she couldn’t send us, which was why she just dropped us off in the morning. My brother came to the interview place and we went to the bus stop where luckily, a taxi came. So we took the taxi.

Unfortunately, with some unfortunate twist of fate, the taxi suddenly got a flat tyre. Wow. Of all the times to get a flat tyre. But yeah, fortunately we were already sort of close to KL Sentral. Well, relatively close. We still had to walk quite a distance and we had to drag two of or luggage. But it wasn’t that bad because one of the luggage is normal size, but not heavy and another one is pretty small so yeah. I had a backpack but what I didn’t like was that I was still in my baju kurung. I couldn’t wait to get to KL Sentral and change my clothes.

So we got there, bought a locker to stuff our luggage, I went to change my clothes and became happier. Then my brother suggested we watch a movie, since we had a lot of time left to spare. There was a movie theatre in NU Central, which I just found out and I think it is such a wonderful thing. So we watched Money Monster, a pretty good movie. We watched it from 11 plus to 1 something, so we actually still had a lot of time to spare, as our train was at 6pm.

As we didn’t have anything else to do, and we didn’t really want to move anywhere, we just decided to wait at the place to wait for the train (lol). It was really boring and even though I was listening to K-Pop I sort of dozed off. Yeah, I was pretty tired. After a while some foreigners came and then they were having a discussion of some sort and then they carried off some of the benches and I’m like “What the heck are these people doing?” Apparently they were shooting a film or something and the wanted to use that place. Me, being the awkward potato I am, decided to run away when they got too close because cameo or not I don’t want to be filmed. So I went to the toilet and loitered around for a while before going back. When I came back we were already sitting a bit far from the filming site and they were in the process of filming it but honestly, I wasn’t that interested, just because I was so tired and couldn’t wait to get home.

So they finished the filming, we waited and waited and then at 5 something we went to take our luggage and bought some food for breaking our fast in the train afterwards. We said goodbye to my brother, and waited again for the train. Then the train arrived, we safely arrive home, good night.

16/6 (Thursday)

So, as I was tired from travelling, I woke up late. And as usual, I wanted to catch up on what I’ve missed, like music shows and all that so I did that. I know I had to travel to KL again tomorrow, since I’m going for the UiTM interview, which is on 18/6. And then as I was happily browsing the internet, suddenly there were people outside our gates. There was a car and also a huge 4-wheel drive car with a huge ladder on top. There were people ringing our bell and me and my brother of course didn’t answer the door. We just waited until they went away (which was quite a while). But then they came back! So we spied from upstairs and apparently they were cutting off our electric supply. And then the electricity went out. So that was that. It was around 2pm when they cut it.

I tried calling my parents, but they didn’t answer. Not knowing what else to do, my brother and I decided to do the only thing we could do at the time. Sleep. I opened my windows and luckily the weather was chilly and so I slept peacefully. When I woke up my parents were back but I couldn’t find my brother. So I tried telling them what happened and all that and they immediately went back out to solve it. I called my brother and he told me he was already out with his friends as they planned on breaking fast together.

So I was left alone again, and only then I realized I had to check all the documents I needed for the interview. Only then did I realize I had to photocopy some docs and have them certified, which was a huge pain in the ass. My parents came back late at like 5pm and then we couldn’t get the electricity back on so everyone was stressed and I had to add up by saying I had to get these things certified. It was a bit of trouble but I managed to get it thanks to my cousin’s efforts which I’m sorry and thankful for.

That night we had a romantic dinner and then I didn’t have anything to do so I just sat around but then it started raining really heavily, and the thunder were continuously thundering and lightning keeps flashing and I was really afraid. Good thing I had my cat with me but it was really terrifying for me. And I felt a bit of irritation on my throat so I could tell I was about to catch a fever.

But yeah, that night we were like a castle during medieval times using all the candles around the house. Good thing my train was on 10am the next day.

17/6 (Friday)

I woke up, prepared my bags and docs and got ready to travel. I already felt a bit unwell but I didn’t complain. Only my mom was travelling with me this time so we went to the train station. We arrived a bit early so we waited in the waiting room. And then my mom realized she left her phone in the car as she was charging it (because we didn’t have electricity at home). My phone was also dead so I couldn’t call my dad. Luckily there was a charging port so I plugged it in and called my dad. It didn’t connect at first but then my dad called back, just as the announcement saying we could enter the gates were said. My dad said he was already close so we said okay we’ll wait, as there was a bit of time before the train would arrive. So we waited at the place, my dad came and we took the phone and then immediately just walked very quickly. We made it of course, as there was still time. So that was that.

In the train, where I had hoped to charge my phone, as it was dead, we realized that the train also did not have electricity or something. The plug wasn’t working for the whole coach so I just didn’t care anymore. But my mom went around and discovered that the plugs in the café coach was working, so she went and charged both our phones there. Thank you mom!

So we arrived at KL, went to Universiti station, met Abang and Kakak and went back home. Bought some food on the way for our break fast. I also asked to buy some Panadol Soluble as I felt quite feverish already by then. The train was so freaking cold by the way, my hands were frozen. So we went back, I drank the Panadol, we ate and just relaxed. I knew better this time so I prepared myself for the interview. Then it was good night. I wanted to fangirl more with Kakak but I held myself back and said “No worries, tomorrow after the interview is finished, there’s a lot more time for me to fangirl and sleep and just do anything basically.” If only I knew what awaited me the next fateful day.

18/6 (Saturday)

So okay. I woke up and had sahur. I ate what I could but I was feeling a bit nauseous probably because of the soluble yesterday. I got ready and so we went to Palam. We arrived quite early and when we reached the building there was a nice parking place so we parked there. Since there wasn’t a lot of people yet I decided to wait in the car. Just mentally preparing myself. Then there’s a car stopping and asking some of the guy students at the side of the road something. My mom said “Oh he’s just dropping his kid” and lo and behold his kid turns out to be my crush. Hmm.

Being the shameless person I was I told everyone in the car like “Oh hmm yeah I kinda fancy that guy” and I was met with a lot of support. HAHAHAHA. Kakak and my mom were like “Oohh yeah he’s kinda cute” OMG can you believe it? Cue my XD face. I was like “Of course he’s cute I have good tastes” lol.

Anyway, we went to the building, I met up with some of my former housemates and classmates, then waited for Hannan. After meeting her we went up to the room. We had a writing test first before the interview and all so yeah. Again, I’m not gonna talk about the interview. I’ll write it soon hopefully.

So okay, I was the 5th person from my panel so I finished quite early, around 11 plus. So I went down and just headed to the car because I thought they were waiting in the car. I was happily walking, thinking how it’s over, when something shocking was waiting for me. Namely a shattered car window.

That’s right, when I got to the car, I realized that the passenger’s seat’s window was shattered, like, completely shattered. I was so shocked and didn’t know what to do. What happened? Did someone broke in? Was my family injured? But all the broken pieces of window were clean and they were broken in place so I had hoped that no one got hurt. So I went back to the building and called my mom asking where she was and she sounded normal and told me where they were. So we met up and everyone looked normal so I knew then that they didn’t know what happened yet.

When we met up I immediately asked “Did anyone went to the car yet? Because something terrible has happened.”

And so there it goes. While all this was happening, there were some pakciks mowing the grass nearby so we immediately pinpointed them as the cause of it. Which is true anyway. My mom called this one pakcik who was potong rumput and told him what happened but then this pakcik was like “Bila parking?” in a blaming tone and my sister wasn’t taking any bs so she sort of raised her voice and said “Dari pagi tadi lagi!”

And then this pakcik had the nerve to get angry at us! He went all “Tak perlu la marah- marah akak!” Wooaahh you did not just do that. Now that I’m thinking back on it I’m angry at that pakcik, but at the time I was just scared because I was afraid that my mom or sister would yell back at him and then they would fight and then this pakcik looked really unstable so what if he suddenly lose it and start throwing punches okay let’s not go there. So yeah I was worried, because we’re all ladies plus my brother, who is not the most intimidating person you’d seen.

Luckily, no one raised their voice. So yeah, my mom went around and asked to see the pakcik’s boss and all so she went to the office. So Kakak, Abang and I waited at the bench nearby, where it faced the car. Then the boss came and look at the damage and everything so we were going to file a report and all that so he brought my mom and sister to the polis bantuan and the main office or whatever, which left me and Abang at the car. We must’ve looked quite interesting, sitting at the bench with an umbrella (because it was quite hot), just looking at the car. If someone was to walk by and asked what we were looking at I would’ve answered I’m looking at all the shattered window, like my hopes and dreams. So dramatic.

Anyways, so my brother and I waited for them and it was quite a wait. We had to move because there was some people blowing the dry leaves and stuffs so we went to sit at the bus stop. We waited and waited and then they came back with the people who are gonna help clean up the broken pieces. It’s my sister’s car btw and the whole window was shattered, some of it already fell from the frame while there was still some around it. So these people helped clean up whatever they could, they helped clean up the passenger’s seat which had the most fragments.

And then what? How are we supposed to go back? How is Kakak supposed to drive the car? Thankfully a kind pakcik (not to be confused with the pakcik-potong-rumput-yang-kurang-asam) helped us and told us to tape a plastic at the window so that no small fragments would fly when driving. So we did what we could and taped a black plastic bag on it. It was the best we could do at the time but Kakak had to drive really carefully and like she said, she felt blinded. Of course, you couldn’t see anything on your left and the side mirror too.

So first things first, we went to the nearest balai polis to file the report. It was really difficult because the plastic was causing a lot of noise too. We reached there, with the help of Kakak’s Google Map. Then this guy said he couldn’t sahkan or luluskan that report or something. So my mom asked where we can do it. He said any main police station could do it, but they couldn’t because it was just a pondok. Well why didn’t the polis bantuan at Palam told us that earlier?? So we asked where the nearest one is. This guy then had to call some people to know the location because he also didn’t know. Very helpful you.

So we had to go elsewhere, so my sister set the Map but then I was the one who had to hold it. This was very intimidating for me because we’ve had bad experiences with Google Map before. So I was nervous, we were on the right road but then of course, our phones being very cheap decided to just suddenly exit the Google Map app. I sort of freaked out and explained carefully that the phone just exited the app but Kakak was already very tense so I tried my best to get it back on and on track. We managed to get to the place, and again waited for the police to do the report or whatever.

It took a while and so the report thingies are solved. But the window is still empty and so we had to find any shop that could fix it, and fix it fast because it was already around 2pm and mom and I had a train at 6pm. So we tried the car shops around but they couldn’t get it fixed in a day and it was a Saturday too so most of them are working half-time. So we had to think of another way when I decided to seek Mr. Google for help. I then found a YouTube video and read the description where he said he covered up the empty frame with a clear vinyl.

So I suggested it and was surprisingly accepted. I don’t know how we didn’t think of that before but yeah I kinda felt proud that I was the one who searched and suggested it. So we went around the shops and looked for the vinyl, you know, those clear see through sheets that you use to either wrap your textbooks or tablecloth sometimes. My mom found it and so we decided to fix it at home, because it was gonna take some time and since we already got the solution let’s just get back home first.

We then drove back very carefully and Alhamdulillah managed to get back home safely. It was already 3pm and we had to move at 4 if we want to be on time for the train. So we immediately started wrapping the window, and packed our bags. I did mention that I was sick right? I had a fever and being in the sun did not help at all. Even the aircond in the car didn’t work because the window was empty. So yeah I bear with it and now that I’m home I ate some biscuits and drank the soluble (as I wasn’t fasting oops). We didn’t even manage to sit down and rest because we had a train to catch. So just exactly at 4 something we moved and once again Alhamdulillah, the vinyl worked. It wasn’t as noisy, and Kakak could see better. We dropped Abang at UM first, and then went to Kakak’s apartment. From there we walked to the station and rode the LRT to KL Sentral. We reached there at about 5.40pm so we had time to sit for a while and wait for the train.

After that, everything went okay, we rode the train, break our fast and reached Alor Setar at 10pm. We grabbed some supper at Hussein where we told my dad and Paan what happened and yeah it was all very tiring.

So that was my experience these past few days. A super long post for super long days. I was thankful nothing bad happened, and today my sister said she got the car fixed so that’s great. But it was such a tiring journey and I just felt it a bit worse because I was having a fever. Seriously, having a fever sucks.

What about my two interviews? Who cares about that when more interesting things happen right? Nah, just kidding, I’ll find some time to write about my experiences soon. After these long days I don’t think I’m gonna go out any time soon. I mean, I’m a hermit as it is but after going out for so long I think I’ll enjoy my time inside alright?

That’s about it I guess. What an experience.

TL;DR
14/6 - Went to KL
15/6 - UM iv, went back AS
16/6 - Electricity got cut off, starting to feel sick
17/6 - Went back to KL, sick
18/6 - UiTM iv, car's window shattered, more sick, went back AS
