Most Eventful 5 Days Ever

I’ve been quite busy these past days. Not exactly busy, but a LOT of things happened. Okay, where should I start?

Oh yeah, first of all, I was called for the interview for TESL in UM and also in UiTM. Thing is, I knew I had to go to UM on 15/6, Wednesday. So we (my parents and me) decided to take the ETS train on 14/6 and then break our fast with my brother and sister. And then we were supposed to go back the next day, on 15/6 after I finished my interview, as it is being held in the morning. We took the 6pm train just to be save and my mom said they weren’t any earlier trains anyway.

14/6 (Tuesday)

So yeah, we rode the train, arrived at KL Sentral, and rode the LRT to Universiti Station where it is just a walking distance away from my sister’s apartment. So we walked to her block and then she drove us to take my brother from UM. We also took a look around on where I’m supposed to have the interview tomorrow.

After that, we went back home and I fangirled with Kakak about everything K-Pop. Then, it was time to break fast so we went to our favourite restaurant Kayu Manis and had a wonderful feast. We went back home and my dad went to the mosque with his friend. My mom then asked whether we wanted to go to my cousin’s house as she had to send some medicines. Somehow, in all our light-heartedness, we all agreed to go. There, we (more like my mom) chatted a bit and then went back home. Tomorrow is my interview, so I should’ve prepared myself right? But no I decided to fangirl more with Kakak. And I slept late.

15/6 (Wednesday)

Interview day. My sister drove us there and dropped us. So I went to the interview and my brother went wherever he wanted to because we thought the interview would be a while. Anyway, I won’t talk about how the interview went, maybe some other time I will, but not now.

So I finished the interview, so my parents called my brother and asked how we were going to get to KL Sentral. Because my sister had a class that day so she couldn’t send us, which was why she just dropped us off in the morning. My brother came to the interview place and we went to the bus stop where luckily, a taxi came. So we took the taxi.

Unfortunately, with some unfortunate twist of fate, the taxi suddenly got a flat tyre. Wow. Of all the times to get a flat tyre. But yeah, fortunately we were already sort of close to KL Sentral. Well, relatively close. We still had to walk quite a distance and we had to drag two of or luggage. But it wasn’t that bad because one of the luggage is normal size, but not heavy and another one is pretty small so yeah. I had a backpack but what I didn’t like was that I was still in my baju kurung. I couldn’t wait to get to KL Sentral and change my clothes.

So we got there, bought a locker to stuff our luggage, I went to change my clothes and became happier. Then my brother suggested we watch a movie, since we had a lot of time left to spare. There was a movie theatre in NU Central, which I just found out and I think it is such a wonderful thing. So we watched Money Monster, a pretty good movie. We watched it from 11 plus to 1 something, so we actually still had a lot of time to spare, as our train was at 6pm.

As we didn’t have anything else to do, and we didn’t really want to move anywhere, we just decided to wait at the place to wait for the train (lol). It was really boring and even though I was listening to K-Pop I sort of dozed off. Yeah, I was pretty tired. After a while some foreigners came and then they were having a discussion of some sort and then they carried off some of the benches and I’m like “What the heck are these people doing?” Apparently they were shooting a film or something and the wanted to use that place. Me, being the awkward potato I am, decided to run away when they got too close because cameo or not I don’t want to be filmed. So I went to the toilet and loitered around for a while before going back. When I came back we were already sitting a bit far from the filming site and they were in the process of filming it but honestly, I wasn’t that interested, just because I was so tired and couldn’t wait to get home.

So they finished the filming, we waited and waited and then at 5 something we went to take our luggage and bought some food for breaking our fast in the train afterwards. We said goodbye to my brother, and waited again for the train. Then the train arrived, we safely arrive home, good night.

16/6 (Thursday)

So, as I was tired from travelling, I woke up late. And as usual, I wanted to catch up on what I’ve missed, like music shows and all that so I did that. I know I had to travel to KL again tomorrow, since I’m going for the UiTM interview, which is on 18/6. And then as I was happily browsing the internet, suddenly there were people outside our gates. There was a car and also a huge 4-wheel drive car with a huge ladder on top. There were people ringing our bell and me and my brother of course didn’t answer the door. We just waited until they went away (which was quite a while). But then they came back! So we spied from upstairs and apparently they were cutting off our electric supply. And then the electricity went out. So that was that. It was around 2pm when they cut it.

I tried calling my parents, but they didn’t answer. Not knowing what else to do, my brother and I decided to do the only thing we could do at the time. Sleep. I opened my windows and luckily the weather was chilly and so I slept peacefully. When I woke up my parents were back but I couldn’t find my brother. So I tried telling them what happened and all that and they immediately went back out to solve it. I called my brother and he told me he was already out with his friends as they planned on breaking fast together.

So I was left alone again, and only then I realized I had to check all the documents I needed for the interview. Only then did I realize I had to photocopy some docs and have them certified, which was a huge pain in the ass. My parents came back late at like 5pm and then we couldn’t get the electricity back on so everyone was stressed and I had to add up by saying I had to get these things certified. It was a bit of trouble but I managed to get it thanks to my cousin’s efforts which I’m sorry and thankful for.

That night we had a romantic dinner and then I didn’t have anything to do so I just sat around but then it started raining really heavily, and the thunder were continuously thundering and lightning keeps flashing and I was really afraid. Good thing I had my cat with me but it was really terrifying for me. And I felt a bit of irritation on my throat so I could tell I was about to catch a fever.

But yeah, that night we were like a castle during medieval times using all the candles around the house. Good thing my train was on 10am the next day.

17/6 (Friday)

I woke up, prepared my bags and docs and got ready to travel. I already felt a bit unwell but I didn’t complain. Only my mom was travelling with me this time so we went to the train station. We arrived a bit early so we waited in the waiting room. And then my mom realized she left her phone in the car as she was charging it (because we didn’t have electricity at home). My phone was also dead so I couldn’t call my dad. Luckily there was a charging port so I plugged it in and called my dad. It didn’t connect at first but then my dad called back, just as the announcement saying we could enter the gates were said. My dad said he was already close so we said okay we’ll wait, as there was a bit of time before the train would arrive. So we waited at the place, my dad came and we took the phone and then immediately just walked very quickly. We made it of course, as there was still time. So that was that.

In the train, where I had hoped to charge my phone, as it was dead, we realized that the train also did not have electricity or something. The plug wasn’t working for the whole coach so I just didn’t care anymore. But my mom went around and discovered that the plugs in the cafĂ© coach was working, so she went and charged both our phones there. Thank you mom!

So we arrived at KL, went to Universiti station, met Abang and Kakak and went back home. Bought some food on the way for our break fast. I also asked to buy some Panadol Soluble as I felt quite feverish already by then. The train was so freaking cold by the way, my hands were frozen. So we went back, I drank the Panadol, we ate and just relaxed. I knew better this time so I prepared myself for the interview. Then it was good night. I wanted to fangirl more with Kakak but I held myself back and said “No worries, tomorrow after the interview is finished, there’s a lot more time for me to fangirl and sleep and just do anything basically.” If only I knew what awaited me the next fateful day.

18/6 (Saturday)

So okay. I woke up and had sahur. I ate what I could but I was feeling a bit nauseous probably because of the soluble yesterday. I got ready and so we went to Palam. We arrived quite early and when we reached the building there was a nice parking place so we parked there. Since there wasn’t a lot of people yet I decided to wait in the car. Just mentally preparing myself. Then there’s a car stopping and asking some of the guy students at the side of the road something. My mom said “Oh he’s just dropping his kid” and lo and behold his kid turns out to be my crush. Hmm.

Being the shameless person I was I told everyone in the car like “Oh hmm yeah I kinda fancy that guy” and I was met with a lot of support. HAHAHAHA. Kakak and my mom were like “Oohh yeah he’s kinda cute” OMG can you believe it? Cue my XD face. I was like “Of course he’s cute I have good tastes” lol.

Anyway, we went to the building, I met up with some of my former housemates and classmates, then waited for Hannan. After meeting her we went up to the room. We had a writing test first before the interview and all so yeah. Again, I’m not gonna talk about the interview. I’ll write it soon hopefully.

So okay, I was the 5th person from my panel so I finished quite early, around 11 plus. So I went down and just headed to the car because I thought they were waiting in the car. I was happily walking, thinking how it’s over, when something shocking was waiting for me. Namely a shattered car window.

That’s right, when I got to the car, I realized that the passenger’s seat’s window was shattered, like, completely shattered. I was so shocked and didn’t know what to do. What happened? Did someone broke in? Was my family injured? But all the broken pieces of window were clean and they were broken in place so I had hoped that no one got hurt. So I went back to the building and called my mom asking where she was and she sounded normal and told me where they were. So we met up and everyone looked normal so I knew then that they didn’t know what happened yet.

When we met up I immediately asked “Did anyone went to the car yet? Because something terrible has happened.”

And so there it goes. While all this was happening, there were some pakciks mowing the grass nearby so we immediately pinpointed them as the cause of it. Which is true anyway. My mom called this one pakcik who was potong rumput and told him what happened but then this pakcik was like “Bila parking?” in a blaming tone and my sister wasn’t taking any bs so she sort of raised her voice and said “Dari pagi tadi lagi!”

And then this pakcik had the nerve to get angry at us! He went all “Tak perlu la marah- marah akak!” Wooaahh you did not just do that. Now that I’m thinking back on it I’m angry at that pakcik, but at the time I was just scared because I was afraid that my mom or sister would yell back at him and then they would fight and then this pakcik looked really unstable so what if he suddenly lose it and start throwing punches okay let’s not go there. So yeah I was worried, because we’re all ladies plus my brother, who is not the most intimidating person you’d seen.

Luckily, no one raised their voice. So yeah, my mom went around and asked to see the pakcik’s boss and all so she went to the office. So Kakak, Abang and I waited at the bench nearby, where it faced the car. Then the boss came and look at the damage and everything so we were going to file a report and all that so he brought my mom and sister to the polis bantuan and the main office or whatever, which left me and Abang at the car. We must’ve looked quite interesting, sitting at the bench with an umbrella (because it was quite hot), just looking at the car. If someone was to walk by and asked what we were looking at I would’ve answered I’m looking at all the shattered window, like my hopes and dreams. So dramatic.

Anyways, so my brother and I waited for them and it was quite a wait. We had to move because there was some people blowing the dry leaves and stuffs so we went to sit at the bus stop. We waited and waited and then they came back with the people who are gonna help clean up the broken pieces. It’s my sister’s car btw and the whole window was shattered, some of it already fell from the frame while there was still some around it. So these people helped clean up whatever they could, they helped clean up the passenger’s seat which had the most fragments.

And then what? How are we supposed to go back? How is Kakak supposed to drive the car? Thankfully a kind pakcik (not to be confused with the pakcik-potong-rumput-yang-kurang-asam) helped us and told us to tape a plastic at the window so that no small fragments would fly when driving. So we did what we could and taped a black plastic bag on it. It was the best we could do at the time but Kakak had to drive really carefully and like she said, she felt blinded. Of course, you couldn’t see anything on your left and the side mirror too.

So first things first, we went to the nearest balai polis to file the report. It was really difficult because the plastic was causing a lot of noise too. We reached there, with the help of Kakak’s Google Map. Then this guy said he couldn’t sahkan or luluskan that report or something. So my mom asked where we can do it. He said any main police station could do it, but they couldn’t because it was just a pondok. Well why didn’t the polis bantuan at Palam told us that earlier?? So we asked where the nearest one is. This guy then had to call some people to know the location because he also didn’t know. Very helpful you.

So we had to go elsewhere, so my sister set the Map but then I was the one who had to hold it. This was very intimidating for me because we’ve had bad experiences with Google Map before. So I was nervous, we were on the right road but then of course, our phones being very cheap decided to just suddenly exit the Google Map app. I sort of freaked out and explained carefully that the phone just exited the app but Kakak was already very tense so I tried my best to get it back on and on track. We managed to get to the place, and again waited for the police to do the report or whatever.

It took a while and so the report thingies are solved. But the window is still empty and so we had to find any shop that could fix it, and fix it fast because it was already around 2pm and mom and I had a train at 6pm. So we tried the car shops around but they couldn’t get it fixed in a day and it was a Saturday too so most of them are working half-time. So we had to think of another way when I decided to seek Mr. Google for help. I then found a YouTube video and read the description where he said he covered up the empty frame with a clear vinyl.

So I suggested it and was surprisingly accepted. I don’t know how we didn’t think of that before but yeah I kinda felt proud that I was the one who searched and suggested it. So we went around the shops and looked for the vinyl, you know, those clear see through sheets that you use to either wrap your textbooks or tablecloth sometimes. My mom found it and so we decided to fix it at home, because it was gonna take some time and since we already got the solution let’s just get back home first.

We then drove back very carefully and Alhamdulillah managed to get back home safely. It was already 3pm and we had to move at 4 if we want to be on time for the train. So we immediately started wrapping the window, and packed our bags. I did mention that I was sick right? I had a fever and being in the sun did not help at all. Even the aircond in the car didn’t work because the window was empty. So yeah I bear with it and now that I’m home I ate some biscuits and drank the soluble (as I wasn’t fasting oops). We didn’t even manage to sit down and rest because we had a train to catch. So just exactly at 4 something we moved and once again Alhamdulillah, the vinyl worked. It wasn’t as noisy, and Kakak could see better. We dropped Abang at UM first, and then went to Kakak’s apartment. From there we walked to the station and rode the LRT to KL Sentral. We reached there at about 5.40pm so we had time to sit for a while and wait for the train.

After that, everything went okay, we rode the train, break our fast and reached Alor Setar at 10pm. We grabbed some supper at Hussein where we told my dad and Paan what happened and yeah it was all very tiring.

So that was my experience these past few days. A super long post for super long days. I was thankful nothing bad happened, and today my sister said she got the car fixed so that’s great. But it was such a tiring journey and I just felt it a bit worse because I was having a fever. Seriously, having a fever sucks.

What about my two interviews? Who cares about that when more interesting things happen right? Nah, just kidding, I’ll find some time to write about my experiences soon. After these long days I don’t think I’m gonna go out any time soon. I mean, I’m a hermit as it is but after going out for so long I think I’ll enjoy my time inside alright?

That’s about it I guess. What an experience.

TL;DR
14/6 - Went to KL
15/6 - UM iv, went back AS
16/6 - Electricity got cut off, starting to feel sick
17/6 - Went back to KL, sick
18/6 - UiTM iv, car's window shattered, more sick, went back AS

I got the interview for TESL at UM. Alhamdulillah.

Am I nervous? Of course I am. I am 10x more nervous. Why? Because I've got to think of the reasons why I would like to decline this offer.

TESL is my 2nd choice. My first choice is Literature. Now, I don't know about you, but I think that most people would find it odd because a lot of people would want to take TESL instead of Lit, but I'm asking for the opposite. So why do I want to take Lit instead of TESL?

You see, TESL stands for Teaching English as Second Language. The motive of this course is to create future educators, meaning people who will teach, be it school teachers or lecturers. And I don't really inspire to be an educator. It sounds really bad doesn't it? Being an educator is a really honorable job, but I just don't have that in me. I've never been a person who knew how to explain something to someone in an understandable way. Even when my friends used to ask me questions I would know the answers but how exactly I got to that answer, I would have difficulty explaining that.

Most of my friends who wanted to take TESL are prepared to be teachers, they have it in them to teach, they want to teach. But I don't. If you ask me to picture myself having a job, I would never imagine myself teaching. I just don't have the passion. That is why I felt really surprised and also a little bit proud of my brother when he once said he wanted to be a high school teacher specifically, because he wanted to teach students and guide them and be a good teacher like one of his teachers who he liked. I felt great for him, because he knows what he wants to do, because he has that ambition. Unlike me.

So if I don't want to be a teacher, what would I want to be? What do I plan to be by taking Literature? Honestly, I don't know. I would love to be a writer, but somehow it feels really far away. I know I sound very negative, which is why I won't mention it in the interview. I would say, I want to be a writer, or a person involved in the writing world. What. You know... like... editors or something? I wouldn't mind working with a newspaper or magazine company, as long as it involves writing, in English of course. Being directly involved with a book would be even better Being an author, would be a dream come true.

Why do I want to be a writer so much? I don't know, it feels special. Because I've always been moved by books, fictional ones, of course, Think about it, a book is just words written on paper, but you could enjoy a good laugh or be moved to tears by it. When I think about all these things it feels amazing, thinking about the authors who wrote these books, knowing they were able to move their readers, I just find it amazing. And I would love to know that feeling someday. Cheeeyyy ayat cheesy habis...

I just find stories, not just books in general, very interesting. You can learn so much just by knowing stories. Which is why I find it weird when people do stuff that they know would only bring negatives effects. Haven't they watched enough dramas to know that having a boyfriend just because you want to seem cool wouldn't actually make you cool? And who's to say your boyfriend will be loyal to you? Haven't you learned anything from dramas? Because I've learned all this from dramas, I avoid them. That is also why sometimes when a person I know suddenly gets in trouble or become sad because of a thing I knew would happen eventually, sometimes I just want to say 'I saw that coming already' and 'haven't you learned anything from dramas?'. That's basically my tagline for today, "Haven't you learned anything from dramas?"

Anyway, I've gone off topic. Stories. Yes. I love them to bits. I especially love reading the reviews of these stories to discover even more interesting details that I might've missed, and the readers interpretation of what happened and how the readers could link it to our every day lives. It really makes you think and it's basically up to one's imagination to interpret a story. You really learn a lot while reading, and I really love that.

Just for example, in Harry Potter, you know how they have those four houses, Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. These four houses each have a value which they treasure more than others, and it gives the people in those houses stereotypes. Like, Gryffindor being brave idiots, Slytherin being evil guys, Hufflepuff being weak and Ravenclaw prideful smartass. Most students stick to these, so they don't really become friends with each other. But after reading the stories, you learn not to judge others based on their houses, because it doesn't work that way. So when you apply it in real life, you shouldn't judge others on what they look like, or their ethnicity or race, because that doesn't determine who they are.

Also, maybe this interest in reading and stories is because I have been reading ever since I was a kid. My favorite books were by Enid Blyton and I love her stories. I think they're really good books for kids. It has helped me become the person I am today. Hahahaha lol. But really though, I would say my English skills come from those books, and also my parents speaking in English at times too.

This post is just all over the place. I have really sunken. Abandon ship. Abort. Abort.

MONSTA X

YES! I managed to write this post before moving on to another group! Phew! As you can see from the post title, I am going to write about Monsta X, the group I'm currently stanning right now.

Let me give you a little bit of the group's background before going into each member. I'm not writing their name in all caps even though on the official channel it's usually all in caps, but I'm just lazy to hold the shift button so I'm writing their name as Monsta X and not MONSTA X, just in case anyone is going to complain.

Monsta X is a 7-member Korean boygroup. They are under Starship Entertainment, the same company as Sistar, Boyfriend, K.Will etc. They are actually from a survival program, which surprised me because I heard their name before, and when I first got into them I didn't know that. Then I watched one of their variety show and read the comments and that's when I found out that they were actually in a survival program to determine who gets to debut. You know, like WINNER and iKON thingy.

The survival program is called 'No Mercy' and boy was it cruel. I've never watched any survival programs, and I was never interested to watch any of it anyway because it's just so cruel. You have to fight friends who you've trained with for years, and then suddenly get new trainees who you would immediately hate, and also the effect of the show's editing making people have a bad impression of you. I don't like the concept of survival programs basically. But just for these guys, I watched it. And boy how hard it was watching it.

I don't know how it is for the people who watched it from the beginning until the last line-up at the time they were broadcasting it, because I am the person who got to know Monsta X first, then decided to watch it. For me, it was difficult because I already knew who gets to debut, so I feel bad for all the other trainees who didn't make it. And I also feel bad when I see the current members facing a difficult situation and also reading the comments saying this member shouldn't have won, this trainee was better etc. But anyways, it's been a year and a lot of people are satisfied with the line-up. So that's cool.

Enough depressing things, let's get to know the members! We'll start with the oldest, as always.

SHOWNU
Stage name : Shownu
Real name : Son Hyunwoo
92-liner

Shownu is the leader of the group. He was actually a back-up dancer pre-debut and was one of the main guy dancer in Lee Hyori's Bad Girl. He was also in JYP for a while and trained with GOT7 so he's pretty close with them. The members also said that he's the one with the most connections and he said that was because he wasted a lot of time back then. He is an all-rounder for me, because he is one of the main vocal and is considered the best dancer. You might not see it from the picture but he's very muscular. He can be awkward sometimes but also adorable and funny. Overall, a hot cinnamon bun.

For me, because I like the cute ones, he's not very high on my bias list, but he has his moments. He is more handsome than cute for me. But he must be a really great guy because when they were asked who would they date if they were girls, 5/6 (not including Shownu himself of course) picked him. He's pretty quiet compared to the other members, but when his variety sense tingle you can expect a good laugh. Also, he plays the Dad role in the group, not only because he's the leader and oldest, but because he acts like one. He can also swim and was on some sports show or something. He's pretty adventurous as he volunteered to bungee-jump during their variety show even though he didn't have to, but he wanted to. He said when else are we going to have this chance? Good for you Shownu. He was also the one able to finish the whole stinky tofu and even said it didn't taste too bad.

WONHO
Stage name : Wonho
Real name : Shin Hoseok
Early 93-liner, so he's the same age as Shownu

Wonho is a sin. I could not search for his pictures because currently it is the fasting month and I am going to lose some pahalas if I search for his pictures. Wanna know why? Because this guy just could not keep a shirt on. Okay, I'm just kidding. But seriously though, he himself admits that he is confident about his body and was born sexy. Can you believe this guy? In 'No Mercy' he took off his shirt during one of the performances, in Dream Concert he did the same, in the Trespass MV too during his part he flashes his abs unnecessarily, and in Hero perfs he is the regular person revealing abs every time. When you see Wonho, you think sexy. But of course, there's a lot more to him than just taking off shirts and flashing abs. He was an Ulzang (or whatever) meaning he was known to be pretty. And he has a slight lisp or something but it makes him cute. To me, even though he is sexy he is actually a cutie pie because the way he speaks and also the way he treats the fans. I personally think he's the best when it comes to treating fans because he always mentions them.

The fandom is called Monbebe btw, because 'Mon' in French means 'My' so Monsta X is 'My Star' while the fandom is Monbebe, 'My Bebe'. I think this just really adds to the cuteness factor of Monsta X because they come out with such strong songs but are so cute with fans.

Whenever Wonho says Monbebe, to me it just feels special. It feels like he really adores them. Not saying that the other members don't, but somehow I feel like Wonho is special. Even when they won an award and was speechless because they did not expect it at all, the first person he thanked was Monbebes, and to me that means he really appreciates the fans. Even when he bungee-jumped he mentions Monbebes. Oh yeah, he has a fear of heights, but on their variety show called 'Right Now!' they went to Macau and he and Kihyun had to bungee because they lost the game before, and he managed to do it. I felt really proud of him because he was really afraid (he has a phobia of heights for heaven's sake!) and he even cried but he still jumped in the end. Even when they were in the elevator going up and they could see the outside view he slowly sat down and just looked at the floor while holding the members hands, which was really sweet actually. I also worry about him sometimes because I'm afraid he would push himself too hard, like he once did in 'No Mercy'. He's really hard-working and is composing some songs, but they haven't made it to the album yet. People are hoping they make it into the next album. He has a nice voice but he is that member in the group that usually has just one or two lines.

He also cries pretty easily as Shownu once said he cried while watching a movie. And it's really heart-wrenching to see him cry especially this one time in 'No Mercy'. He sounded really choked up and it was just so sad. He also cried when they first won an award.

MINHYUK
Stage name : Minhyuk
Full name : Lee Minhyuk
93-liner

Minhyuk is a ball of sunshine. His smile cures cancer. He is the mood maker of the group and he talks a lot. Sometimes the other members have to shut him up. He wants to be an MC and it shows. He's usually the one handling the flow of their talks and even when he's not the MC, he's the MC. Seriously, he really talks a lot. But it's fine, because some of the members are pretty quiet so to avoid awkward silences we have Minhyuk. You can always expect to see a smile from him and as I said before, his smile is just dazzling. Even during performances when it's his part you get mesmerized by his smile. People would always comment asking who's the blond cutie. I especially like him in Rush performances because I think the song suits him well and I saw a fancam of him during one of the performance and his expressions are just on point. He really looks like he enjoys performing and that's really nice to look at. He is also like Wonho, the member that only gets one or two lines.

While he is sort of the happy-virus in the group, there was also a time when fans got offended because they felt like he said Zico from Block B was ugly. What actually happened was that there was a question asking Jooheon what he feels being compared to Zico, and Minhyuk was the one who read the question. So he read that and said something like "honestly, it's a bit annoying right?" But then Jooheon didn't get to answer before they did something else. So people were offended. I personally agree with him because these days especially fans are always comparing idols and it can get annoying. But anyway, people were offended, and Minhyuk is the kind of person who always pays attention to people's reactions meaning he always goes online and reads the comments and reviews so of course he knew he made a 'mistake'. So he apologized but of course he was quite down on some shows because of this. I also only knew about this thing because I watched ASC and noticed he was so so so quiet and he didn't even smile. So I did some research and that's where I know about this. It feels really sad to see him so quiet and down especially because I'm so used to seeing him smile. But I'm actually glad that this happened early because now he would be more careful and the case wasn't such a big deal because they weren't very popular at the time.

Like Wonho, Minhyuk also seems to cry easily. You can't really count on 'No Mercy' because literally everyone cried on that show. But yeah, he can easily tear up and it always shows. I remember one time when Kihyun read the letter from his mom on one of their shows and it wasn't supposed to be too sad but I could see him tearing up. He's such a sweet person really.

KIHYUN
Stage name : Kihyun
Full name : Yoo Kihyun
93-liner

Kihyun is the mom of the group. At least, that's what the members say. He is the mom because he is usually the one cooking and also cleaning in the dorm. But don't be fooled, this guy can be a devil sometimes. There's a lot of moments where he plays a prank on the other members and also cutting off Wonho when he's talking. But despite all that he's still a cutie. He's the shortest member along with I.M but don't tell him that. I really love it when he laughs whether it is soundless or high-pitched. When it's soundless his face looks so funny and is enough to make me laugh too. When there's a sound it also sounds great. Basically I like his laugh. He is the main vocal of the group and his voice is amazing. Even in 'No Mercy' his vocal skills were already acknowledged and his performance of 'Hyeya' was legendary. He is also part of the Starship Triplets, consisting of him, Jeongmin of Boyfriend and Yoo Seungwoo, a solo singer if I'm not mistaken. This triplets sounds so good together and they're all cute too (what a combo!) He also went on Masked Singer so yeah, our main vocal Kihyun everybody.

Because he's short, he can easily look cute, and he is. But somehow his aegyo is... hit or miss? Sometimes it's okay but most of the times even he himself gets embarrassed. He changed the 'Gwiyomi song' to 'Kihyoni' because of his name and the members always bring that up. The members also voted him as the most baby-like or something like that. They said because he usually acts cute but it's not aegyo, for example falling down cutely. And I did saw the video of it and it was cute. The members also said that he's the one that loves compliments the most, like being babied. He's also very confident, there was one time where they joked about dissecting Kihyun and they said they would find self-confidence in there. When there was a question asking 'Honestly, I'm good-looking' only Kihyun and Shownu answered O while the others answered X. Which makes me really mad because how dare the other members think they're not good-looking?! I will fight you!

Of course, he also faced some difficult times. One of it was a former schoolmate or someone digged up about his past as a student and said he used to smoke and drink even though he's underage. Again, I only knew this because there was a show where they appeared and he didn't smile at all, because of the incident. Even though they didn't do anything on the show we could still see how down he was. Again, I'm glad it happened early so now people don't really care about that. He is a cutie with a beautiful voice people!

HYUNGWON
Stage name: Hyungwon
Full name : Chae Hyungwon
Early 94-liner, so he's the same age as Minhyuk and Kihyun

Okay, I will start off by saying the first video of Monsta X that I watched was of Hyungwon. It was titled 'Monsta X Hyungwon sleeping compilation'. Yes, I was that bored and the thumbnail looked cute enough so why not? After that it moved on to Weekly Idol and by then it was too late.

Hyungwon is the blur one in the group. He is very good-looking, but also looks lost or sleepy or sick at the same time. He is the tallest in the group, and has modeled before. Basically, he's the visual. Despite this though, he doesn't really care about images, and is our resident meme. Seriously, if you find his pictures, you can find a lot of beautiful ones, but also a lot of meme-worthy pictures. He even wore a frog headgear or something at a fan-sign recently and he looked so hilarious. He also does weird stuff when people least expect it. Like when they asked him to do a catwalk and he walked with a tray of food once, and another time he posed like a compass and it's just hilarious. He is also viewed as the weakest in terms of physical strength in the team, but he is actually pretty built. He showed his abs before during Hero perfs and his arms are pretty muscular. But because he is tall, he usually looks skinny. Not that I'm complaining because I prefer skinny guys *winky-face*

He might be viewed as the weakest physically but he can be pretty scary? Like, as a hyung (older brother) he could be really serious. The first time I noticed this was in 'No Mercy' when they played a hidden camera and he acted as if he was angry at another trainee who was younger and wow did he play that role well. He went all 'I'm older than you so you better watch it' and even cursed. Another time was when Jooheon jokingly said he seems like a bad referee and Hyungwon was like "...what?" and Jooheon just immediately apologized. He also mentioned that the first time he met Jooheon he wanted to hit him so yeah better watch out for Hyungwon people.

I don't think there's an official visual of the group but Hyungwon, Wonho and Mihyuk are called the visual line even in 'No Mercy'. I feel protective of Hyungwon because people might say he's only in Monsta X because of his looks, which really hurts. But I can see where people might get the idea especially if they've watched 'No Mercy'. During the show, he wasn't ranked very low, but usually in the middle. But he doesn't stand out a lot in the show, besides the moments where they compliment his good looks. He is actually a really good dancer but Shownu usually gets highlighted more. His voice is different. I mean, I'm not an expert or anything but his voice would sound really good with certain kinds of songs. He never really stood out until like the last performance and even the judges were surprised and said he improved a lot. The song that he performed was 'Interstellar' and I think his voice really suits the song. In the albums though he also usually has one or two lines. I guess the visual line are all in the same boat.

Also, he choreographed a short dance and they uploaded it on their channel. He, Shownu and Wonho danced and it was pretty hot. So yeah, I will fight anyone saying he's only a pretty boy!

JOOHEON
Stage name : Jooheon
Full name : Lee Jooheon
94-liner

Jooheon is the rapper of the group. He is the most known member as he has featured on a lot of artists' songs and was on SMTM and stuff so he's pretty famous. His rapping skills is no joke and while I'm not really into raps and stuffs I think he's really charismatic when he's rapping. Even in 'No Mercy' he was ranked no. 1 and was the top competitor alongside Shownu. Due to his rapping you might see him as arrogant but you need a lil bit of arrogance to look cool. Which is why he keeps doing aegyo on shows so that people would see that he is actually a really bright person. And his aegyo is also no joke. He could make his voice sound very cute and when he does aegyo his eyes would become smaller and just makes him cuter really.

While he is the most famous member I feel that he might be pressured to promote the group more but I think he's doing well. But he did lose weight during the most recent comeback and I hope it's because of practices and not diets because he did say he looked chubbier on tv but I personally think he looks perfect the way he is. Don't starve yourself Jooheon! Monbebes love you the way you are! He also composed a few songs for himself and for the group, the one I remember is 'White Sugar' which is a really sweet song (pun not intended). Oh yeah, did I mention that he's a big scaredy cat? When he raps he's all fierce but once confronted with the hidden box game he's out. He's basically scared of everything, bugs, ghosts, dried fishes(?). Again, this only makes him more adorable.

I.M
Stage name : I.M
Real name : Lim Changkyun
96-liner

Last but not least we have our beloved maknae I.M~! He is the youngest in the group (obviously) but the members always make fun of him saying he's the 'oldest looking maknae', which is kinda true because he has a mature looking face, and a deep voice too. He is also a rapper. I also feel protective over I.M, because he was actually added in 'No Mercy' later after 3 of the trainees were eliminated. Of course, the trainees were super pissed off because 3 of their friends were eliminated and then suddenly this guy just comes in to the show like that? They really disliked him then and it was so hard to watch the show because the situation was just really awkward and tense. Luckily he was in the same team with Jooheon and Jooheon spoke to him and told him his honest feelings and all because they had to work together for the performance. Imagine how it was when at the end of the show, he was also picked as a winner. I imagined a lot of people might feel angry and that they might think the producers promised to make him debut or something but hey, we'll never know the truth.

I'm really glad he was chosen though because he's a really great rapper and I think because his voice is deep whereas Jooheon's is like the nasally-kind they blend well together. And he's a really funny person too. He can speak English a lil bit and is also pretty good in aegyo. Isn't it funny how the rappers are the ones who are good in aegyo? I was also worried about his relationship with the members because no one really liked him in 'No Mercy' so it was quite worrying. I guess they were a bit awkward in the beginning but of course with time they eventually opened up with each other. He's really funny too so it won't be hard to like him. I think he's the closest with Jooheon, given that they're both rappers and also the younger dongsaengs. He also mentioned once that he was thankful to Kihyun because Kihyun is soft with his words and always thinks about the other person's feelings so kudos to you Kihyun-mom!

So that's about it for all the members. It actually took me two days to write all this (mainly because I was lazy keke). There's really a lot more for me to write (seriously though) but I'll just stop here. You won't really know the members well enough just by what I wrote so go and find some videos of them to watch! Check them out because they're really great. But then again, that's what I say about all the groups I like... and they're currently my bias group so...

You can also see who I'm interested in with how long the paragraphs are. Try and guess who my bias is. No, don't guess, I'll just tell you. It's Hyungwon :D

A fair warning though, once you're in,

Switching Interests

Hi hello annyeong. My laptop can’t be turned on so I’m using my mom’s laptop these past few weeks. Of course her laptop is more up to date than mine but it’s just not the same when using something that is not yours. Which is one of the reasons why I haven’t written about UP10TION which is what I am supposed to write about as I have mentioned about it in my last post. But today I will be writing about something else, because I’ve lost the mood to write about UP10TION keke.

How did I lose the mood? It’s simple. Right now I am into another boygroup.

Sounds very disloyal right? I mean, I said in my last post that UP10TION (it’s pronounced up-ten-tion btw in case you’re wondering) is my bias group at the time. But hey, I switch my interests every time I blink. Okay maybe not to that extend but you get the point.

That’s what I’m going to write about today. It’s not just switching bias group in K-Pop, but just my overall interests in things.

As far as I remember, when I was in primary school I was into anime. It’s not like I knew all about anime but it was one of my main interests. If I could use the computer, then anime was what I searched. And also flash games. And then when I entered high school I got into K-Pop. At that time anime was stored deep inside the back of my mind and all I could think about was K-Pop. Name me a group and I could tell you all their members, their debut song and their latest song etc. And then starting from Form 4 when there was suddenly an increase in K-Pop fans *cough*EXO*cough* I got back into anime. I think I mentioned this before somewhere.

But it didn’t stop there. Once I got into university I sort of spent a lot of time on YouTube and got into Dan and Phil (again, like I’ve mentioned before in a post). During the first sem I really loved YouTube and I even got into MCR even though they’ve disbanded and I was also into 5SOS for a while. And then during the sem break was when I got back into K-Pop a lil bit by SEVENTEEN. During the second sem I was still into anime but also paid attention to some of the updates in K-Pop as 5 out of 6 people in my house were into K-Pop (including me). And then I finished Asasi and once again, got into K-Pop.

So what exactly is the problem? There is no problem of course, but I just thought it was interesting how I could love one thing but then just didn’t think much about it after a while. Like Dan and Phil for example. Back then whenever they uploaded a new video I would be so excited and I would rewatch all their old videos whenever I was bored. Now when they upload a video, I would only watch it if the title interests me. I just don’t get as excited anymore. It’s like “Oh Dan uploaded a new video. And what’s this on my recommended list? OMG MONSTA X ARE HAVING A COMEBACK?!”

Speaking of which, my current bias group as I am typing right now is Monsta X. I need to emphasize the ‘as I am typing right now’ because who knows? Maybe next week I’ll have a different bias group. Aaaahhh I really hope not.

Even if I might not take as much interest in my old interests compared to my new interests (try to understand this line lol), it doesn’t mean I forget about them. It’s just not my top priority anymore. And I do feel bad sometimes, especially regarding K-Pop groups, because it feels like I just let them go and chase a new group. But hey, it’s my life and it’s not like I don’t support them just as much. I never bought any albums or vote for a group for anything so everything’s still fair. What I do is I hope they win on music shows. Yeah, just hope. If they do, hey, that’s great, they deserved it. If they don’t, then too bad, maybe the competition was just too high and they just haven’t gotten enough support.

So that is all. I want to say I’ll write about Monsta X soon but I’m afraid I might jinx it like how I mentioned about writing on Code Geass (which didn’t happen) and also UP10TION (which is not really on top of my to-write list). So I’ll just say goodbye~
