I went on YouTube and this video came out on my homepage. I will admit, I wasn't VERY surprised, because I knew they were steadily climbing the charts and their popularity is no joke. And I will also admit I felt a bit bitter because I'm currently into UP10TION, and they were in the top 3 once with their song ATTENTION (나한테만 집중해) , but sadly they didn't win.
But then I went on and watched the video, and when
they won I actually cried with them. Wait, am I going too fast? Should I give
an intro first?
Okay, now that I think about it SEVENTEEN actually sort of pulled me back into K-Pop, or more specifically Jeonghan did. I was scrolling through FB and I liked Allkpop's page so a few of the articles were on my homepage. So I saw this one article about a new rookie group called SEVENTEEN where they dressed up for Halloween and one member's costume in particular caught people's attention. I'm not sure what exactly made me click that article but I did. So I read the article and saw their pictures. The costume that caught people's attention was a male Harley Quinn costume. What made it interesting was the fact that the guy wearing it has long hair and was pretty. I also thought he was pretty and his hair was nice, and I wondered if it was a wig. Then I realized that his hair looked very much like his own because I can see his roots or whatever, but I could tell that it was his own hair. WHAT?! IT'S SO LONG!
You can tell it's his real hair right? Anyways, I was
so shocked because he looks so pretty! I mean, at that time it's been a while
since I've seen real pretty guys because I've been seeing fictional pretty guys
in anime. So I continued scrolling down the article and lo and behold one of
the comments had this GIF image :
Let's just say I was sold. He freaking looks like he
came out from an anime. I literally gasp and just immediately searched for this
guy and the group.
And that was how I got back into K-Pop. Well, I never
actually really left, I just stopped updating myself about it, like I don't
really search for new songs or what any specific groups are doing or anything,
but I do know the really popular songs or updates.
Anyways, back to SEVENTEEN, yeah I really got into
them, I really liked their song Mansae and Adore U, I thought they're really
funny and they released a lot of different dance practice versions which I find
entertaining to watch. They just debuted at the time, in 2015, and I really
thought they were great rookies and had a lot of potential, despite having 13
members. Yes, you read that right, they have 13 members, the same as Super
Junior when they first debuted. And they're all really young too, the oldest
were born in 1995 and the youngest in 1999. Yup, 3 of the members are younger
than me and 3 are the same age as me. And I'm still young right?!
So yeah, I was into them and then I went back to
University for the 2nd sem and things change. I will admit, I get affected by my
surroundings, so when I was in 2nd sem SEVENTEEN just slowly faded away. It was
not like I forgot about them or anything it's just that they became a
background thing you know, like I don't follow their updates and stuffs. And
then I finished the 2nd sem and also the Asasi program (sobs) and stayed in KL
for a while. This is where my sister then introduces me to UP10TION.
I am also influenced by my sister sometimes, and so I
got hooked to UP10TION. I will write more about them soon, it is a story for
another day. The point is I got into UP10TION and so they became my bias group?
Can I call it that? Yeah, I'm gonna call it a bias group. So naturally I wanted
them to win, but they didn't. And then today I saw that SEVENTEEN had won. So
yeah, I got a bit bitter.
I did follow SEVENTEEN during this comeback, so I did
watch their showcase and all that and I will admit I freaking love their new
song Pretty U. I really love it. And their performance is awesome too. And
everyone looks good. I had a feeling they would win so that was why I wasn't
really surprised. So I watched the video of their 1st win.
And I cried.
When the results were announced of course they were
shocked, and then tears started falling. I could tell some of them were really
crying. And I'm weak to people crying. S.Coups being the leader came to the
front to give their thank you speech, but he was just speechless and was
crying. It took a while until someone took the mic and gave the speech.
Seungkwan was crying, S.Coups was crying, Hoshi tried to talk but he also
cried. And then the camera showed Woozi and omg this kid was legit crying and
leaning his face to someone's back. I just couldn't take it and tears started
to flow. It was really nice. I just felt so happy for them you know. Go and
watch the video (the link is at the top) to see what I'm talking about.
But I just said I was bitter about them winning right?
Why did I still cry?
The answer is simple. It's because no matter who they
are, they worked hard to achieve it. Whether it's SEVENTEEN or UP10TION, or any
other groups, everyone worked their asses off. Everyone faced hardships to get
to where they are. But unfortunately, you can't give trophies to everyone. And
SEVENTEEN deserved it. So I'm okay now.
That ends today's daily random post. I'm thinking of
writing daily, but I think I'll run out of thing to write. And I probably won't
have the mood to write everyday. Oh well, I'll stick to my random writing-whenever-I-want-to
schedule then. Bye-bye~!
Congratulations SEVENTEEN! Wanna know
who's pretty? You guys are! 너 예쁘다 ~!
